We’ve seen more cars at electronics shows in the past few years, and if this year’s CES was any indication they’re here to stay. The question isn’t whether cars will become media devices; it’s how that will happen:
- Will we see only Android cars and Apple cars, or a wide variety of platforms? Open source IVI from groups like the GENIVI alliance?
- How will users’ personal devices interface with their cars?
- And of course, how will connected car capabilities be used to positively impact safety?
Speculation abounds about how the connected car will affect advertising, media consumption, work, and more, but one thing is clear: this trend is here to stay.
