4K and UHD technologies continue to develop and enter the market. More products are being sold, and the content market is slowly catching up. Just this week we saw a new 4K projector as well as a 4K desktop monitor. This technology is going to be in everyone’s hands soon.
Streaming is still growing. New data shows that about 28% of TV viewing is done with a streaming connection. Of course, with this ongoing shift come some problems. For example, Chicago’s “cloud tax” increases the price for streaming video and caught many Chicagoans off guard.
What’s interesting to us will be watching what happens as streaming and UHD start to clash. UHD files are just bigger (and harder to stream) than what we’re used to. What will consumers or AV professionals do when they want both?
