As IBC 2014 wraps up and we return from Amsterdam, we’re processing what we learned. Following five days of excellent conversation, we have a sense of what’s happening in broadcasting and what everyone is planning for next.
We’ll post a full IBC recap next week. For now, here are a few worthwhile articles that support what we heard at IBC:
- As expected, there’s been tons of conversation over when/whether/how UHD will become the next big standard. How will the chicken-and-egg release of UHD content and hardware play out? No one knows for sure, but more companies are becoming interested.
- Could focusing on different content delivery mechanisms help resolve the problem of how to introduce UHD content?
- And finally, despite years of hype for UHD, the focus on resolution may be misguided. Increasing resolution may not be as important as increasing picture quality through better dynamic range and frame rate.
